From the Director's Desk - Baldy's Blue Notes III
Posted by Eric Baldwin (08/21/2008 12:25PM )The PGA TOUR Playoffs are finally here!
Today, at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., the 2009 PGA TOUR Playoffs tee off at The Barclay's. This is one of the most exciting times of the year in golf as the next few weeks are guaranteed to produce some exciting action on the fairways and greens.
It also means that the Deutsche Bank Championship is less than a week away from its official start. We're excited to see the final preparations being made to the TPC Boston course. There's plenty in store for everyone who attends!
I wanted to point out some of the exciting spectator highlights of this year's Championship:
• Championship Week will be filled with exciting events before the official tournament begins on Friday, including the Red Sox & Friends Pro-Am featuring local sports celebrities past and present on Tuesday; Deutsche Bank Kids Day on Wednesday and the Championship Pro-Am on Thursday.
• There's a great new viewing area for fans that was built at the par-4 4th hole. The short par-4 is drivable for many of the top players and fans will have the chance to watch players putt for eagle or possibly scramble for par as a massive bunker in front of the green will catch stray shots.
• MasterCard holders can take advantage of a great promotion that will give fans the chance at a VIP experience. Anyone who uses their MasterCard to purchase $100 or more in the DBC merchandise areas will receive two single-day passes to the MasterCard Club. This private viewing area also gives fans the opportunity to participate in the "Red Sox Experience," a historical photo and memorabilia exhibit of the Boston Red Sox 2007 World Series Championship. The private MasterCard Club features air conditioning, cash bar service and preferential outdoor seating that allow spectators views of the 16th and 17th holes.
There are a limited number of tickets still remaining for all days of the Championship. The final rounds of the Championship sold out last year, and this year we expect the same, so if you're interested in attending, go to www.dbchampionship.com and purchase your tickets today! Don't be shut out!
We're just a few short days away from kicking of this year's Deutsche Bank Championship. The golfers will be arriving soon and the excitement will begin. I look forward to seeing you all there!
