Today, a great group of Boston sports celebrities teamed up with PGA TOUR Professionals to kick off the Deutsche Bank Championship as part of the annual Red & Friends Pro-Am tournament.
It was a who's who of recognizable names from Boston sports past and present.
From the Red Sox, we were steeped with great alumni such as Dennis Eckersley, Fred Lynn, Bob Montgomery, Luis Tiant, Carlton Fisk, Rico Petrocelli, Rick Miller, Jim Lonborg and Sam Horn.
We also had a great list of Boston Bruins – past and present – also join us including Marc Savard, Phil Kessel, Shawn Thronton and Dennis Wideman. Bruins alums included Andy Brickley and Bob Sweeney, and General Manager Peter Chiarelli also took part.
Thank you to all of the sports celebrities and TOUR players who made this a great day.
It looks like the weather for this week and weekend is going to be spectacular. Tuesday was filled with plenty of sunshine and we're hoping this can continue throughout the week.
Tomorrow is a very exciting day that we look forward to each year: Deutsche Bank Championship Kids' Day. We're hoping that children of all ages can join us to watch their favorite PGA TOUR stars up close as they prepare for this weekend's tournament. At 2:00 p.m., we'll have a special exhibition for kids on the driving range featuring Pinnacle Distance Team members Jason Zuback & Eric Lastowka as well as Anthony Netto from Kids Swing International.
We're getting closer and closer to the official beginning of competition at this year's Deutsche Bank Championship. I'm hoping that I'll see you on the links in the coming days.
