Posted by Eric Baldwin (08/20/2009 10:05AM )In response to President Obama's "United We Serve" Campaign and underscoring the PGA TOUR and the Deutsche Bank Championship's giving back mission, the Championship will conduct a food drive Saturday, August 15th through Monday, September 7th, 2009. The event is part of the nationwide service initiative which marks the beginning of a sustained, collaborative and focused effort to meet community needs and make service a way of life for all Americans. In addition to the food drive at the Deutsche Bank Championship, similar food drives will take place at events across the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour, Nationwide Tour and at TPC Clubs throughout the country. Commissioner Finchem is fully supportive of this effort and the overarching food drive theme is "Golfing Fore Groceries".
WHERE: Four (4) Locations (During Store Hours) Dedham, Norwood, Plainville, Mansfield Stores
DEUTSCHE BANK CHAMPIONSHIP
WHEN: Tuesday, September 1st - Monday, September 7th 2009
WHERE: Main Entrance (During gate hours each day) Comcast Center, Mansfield MA
WHAT: Canned food donations may be dropped off at the above locations during both store and event hours
MOST NEEDED ITEMS
- Peanut butter & jelly (in plastic bottles)
- Baby formula & food
- Canned fruits & vegetables
- Canned fish & meat
- Dried pasta & spaghetti sauce (no glass please)
- Canned fruit & 100% fruit juice
- Rice, beans, lentils
- Soup, chili, pasta or hearty stew
- Cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix
- Powdered or canned milk
- Crackers
- Macaroni and cheese
DEUTSCHE BANK CHAMPIONSHIP "HEALTHY PACKS" EVENT
WHEN: Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 from 10am - 12pm
WHERE: TPC Boston, Norton, MA -- Outside of Kids Village
WHAT: The "Healthy Packs" event consists of packing 500-1,000 reusable grocery bags with a provided list of healthy snacks for children. These loaded bags will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Fall River, MA.
