Steve Stricker and Seth Waugh, CEO of Deutsche Bank Americas rang The Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange to kick off this year’s Championship.
In conjunction with the celebration, Deutsche also launched its US veterans outreach program, a broad initiative designed to attract, retain and develop former military personnel. The centerpiece of this initiative will be Veterans on Wall Street (VOWS), a new organization that will include an employee group to promote career development and support for veterans inside Deutsche Bank, as well as an annual conference and other events open to veterans who are current or prospective employees of the financial services industry. The Bank will host the first annual VOWS conference in 2011.
Deutsche kicked off the program by signing a Statement of Support of the National Guard and Reserve. Present at the signing ceremony were several senior officials from the United States Armed Forces including Assistant Secretary of Defense, Dennis McCarthy; Commanding General of the United States Army Reserve, Lieutenant General Jack Stultz; Adjutant General of the Massachusetts National Guard, Major General Joseph Carter; Adjutant General of the New York National Guard, Brigadier General Patrick Murphy; and Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, Command Sergeant Major John Gipe.
